Guest Host: Jim Harrington of Jim Harrington Garden Designs.
We welcomed back our old friend Jim Harrington. Jim and I discussed garden design
and drought tolerant plants. We talked about organic gardening and the use of
benificial insects.

Jim is a contributing writer for _Gardening Round Atlanta’ he is also a past President
of The Georgia Native Plant Society and past President of The Georgia Perennial
Plant Association. Jim was also a former University of Georgia Extension Agent for
North Fulton County.

Heavy Petal, our plant pick: Pat Lemmerman buyer for Hastings Garden Center
Pat’s pick was Echinacea our native cone flower. We talked about the new _Sky’ series
introduced by ItSaul Plants. Our native has a nice lavender flower but this new _Sky’
series comes in yellow, orange, dark pink, purple, white and they are fragrant. Pat also shared her recipe for the common cold using the root.

Todd Davis, editor, Nursery Management & Production (NMPRO)
Since joining Branch-Smith Publishing, Todd Davis has conducted
interviews at more than 450 nurseries and other horticultural
facilities in 41 states, Canada and Europe.
He is a frequent speaker at nursery-industry events, is a Texas
Certified Nursery Professional and a member of International Plant
Propagators' Society. Experience also includes work as a landscape
contractor for three independent firms.
Prior to Branch-Smith, Todd earned a bachelor's degree in journalism
from the University of North Texas and worked as a writer and editor
for four Texas and Oklahoma daily newspapers.

SNA honors Todd W. Davis with 2006 SNA Pinnacle Award
Atlanta, GA, July 21, 2005 - The SNA Pinnacle Award, established in
1992, is presented annually to an individual within the allied segment
of the nursery industry, who, in the opinion of the SNA Board of
Directors, has made a significant contribution to the advancement of
the industry and the welfare of SNA. The 2006 recipient of the SNA Pinnacle
Award is Todd W. Davis, Editor of Nursery Management & Production
(NMPRO) magazine, a Branch-Smith Publishing product, in Fort Worth,
Texas. 

Jim and I talked with Todd about what trends he is seeing in the nursery business.
Todd sees more landscapes using drought tolerant plants.  Though the tropical look
is still pretty hot he said.
